So, you can see here that the water is pretty high in the canal.. This is a picture of Sofitel just across from Schwedenplatz. To compare, you can look at THIS post, where you can see how far down the water normally is in the canal at Schwedenplatz (it helps if you enlarge the photo by clicking on it)… You can only see the topmost largest bricks today! Luckily, Vienna has escaped the massive floods that have ravaged much of Austria in the last days. However, much of the Danube Island is flooded, and it will not open for swimming for a long while after the water has gone down, because of the dirty water/pollution.
