I’ve been far out in the tenth district today to pick up a bicycle. I rode past this place on my way back – arsenal. That’s where the military museum is located. The radio/tv tower is surrounded by some excellent fortress buildings. I have to make a trip out there one day to inspect further!
I bring everyone who visits me to this place. It’s not very touristy, but they do have menus in English. They have fantastic Austrian food, and at good prices (7-10 euro for the good mains, some are more expensive but not many). They brew their own beer. I love the place.
Today I’m bringing my friend Annika from NZ here. 🙂
Today we had to just face the day doing the only sane thing one can do in 38 degrees – submerge in water, dry in the sun, and repeat. We arrived after 1pm, so we only had to pay €3.90 to get in. Turns out, it was totally worth it!
Probably the best backdrop ever. This weekend it is popfest at Karlsplatz. Lots of free concerts, all sponsored by the most popular radio channel FM4. I’m enjoying it to the max 🙂
I finally made it. 😉 loving the atmosphere after spending about 5 weeks by the sea. Yay!
So, I’m still away. But homeward bound now! I missed a few days of posting recently… very bad. :-\ So, my friend Sita is currently in Vienna. She posted this photo of the Strauss monument on Facebook.. and seeing as I am half a world away still, I’m borrowing it as today’s photo.
Hope you are all well! Tomorrow I’ll be home again! 🙂
Last in the series – just adding a picture of man’s best friend, who also gets thirsty at hot days while surrounded by people clad in old-looking clothes. A little cutie. 🙂
This is probably the biggest attraction of the Danube Tower – the view. And, mostly then – the sunset. This is looking towards Kahlenberg. 🙂
A club just by Prater that has some decent drum n bass acts. The upper floor is a bit more alternative. In the summer it is also nice to sit out on the terrace. 🙂
Hm.. AND Sweden…. At Stadion
Scene from Stadtpark. A small example of the cute-looking streets here in Vienna. 🙂 If you wonder how I’m going in Asia, visit my Instagram profile! 🙂
the Vienna street car museum is located in the third district. Incidentally right next to a really nice heurigen in the city.. that I still haven’t been to! Actually haven’t been to either of them… I’d better get onto it!
One of my favorite pieces, already posted on the Facebook site. I will be sad when this gets tagged over. It’s been by Strandbar Herrmann for a few years at least.
Vietnam is still going well! But I miss Vienna, and cooler temperatures. I’m uploading HEAPS of photos on Instagram if you’re interested – username Tienchen0312. 🙂
This was taken with my old phone one evening the water was reasonably still. This church is one of my favourites. 🙂
This one is just fun! It’s a swing tower, and it’s the tallest one in the world! 95 metres tall – Wuhuu!! I tried it and it’s actually not so scary. It’s just very high up.
This one I took on my way up to work one day. It’s fast becoming one of my most favourite walks, as I can also integrate it into my exercise routine AND get to work at the same time (yay multitasking!)
Not the worst scenery I can tell you. 😉
This band was so awesome! this is also from Eggenburg. There was a large crowd for the band, the day was beautiful, they were really skilled.. perfect moment! One of the bands that are most famous in the medieval scene is Corvus Corax (not the band in the picture though) – I embedded a video so that you may get some of the atmosphere at home. Enjoy! 🙂
Albert Einstein apparently lived in this house from 1927 to 1931, as a guest of Professor Felix .. um…Ehrenkaft? could be. Wow… I’m fairly certain that if I were to stay anywhere for 4 years as a guest, the host would get really sick of me. Maybe Einstein was a more lovable creature? could be.
So, this is not the view from the big ferris wheel, but from the small one OF the big one… It’s a little bit dull actually, but at least you get a nice veiw at the top. I can almost see my house from heeeeere! 😀
It’s supposed to work like this – put them in a box like these ones, put it on the side of the road o one of the dates that are printed on the carton, and then they get picked up. A lot of the time however, they don’t get picked up at all… 😛
Ejoying the view during a break of a concert. Not bad… sand in the city is open! go check it out!!
This guy looks serious. I snapped this on my way up to philosoph – a cool little bar close to Schwedenplatz. I can reccomend it if you can take the smoke… there is a non smoking section too, but it is pretty depressing…
I caught this photo at a fair – really thought that was the coolest thing I’d seen for a good while. Still think it is really cool 😛
this poor fellah got run over by a car, most likely. It’s the closest I’ve ever been to a mole. Actually I feel like I have blogged this before… deja vu!!
Seen in Vienna. Adorable!!! 😀
Happy 4th of July to all my American followers!!!
A great place to chill out over a nice dinner and a glass of wine while watching the sunset. 🙂
Greetings from Vietnam! I hope all goes well home in beautiful Vienna. Actually I miss it!
Another little shack among the wine grapes. Some day I’ll muster up the courage to be a tourist and ask what these are, and whether they have any historic meaning. Grape herder shack? Tool sheds and nothing more? Hmmm…. let me practise my Viennese accents for a while longer first.
I like food. So of course, one of the things I like about the medieval fairs is the food that they serve there. It is usually heavy on meat (yummy yummy) and especially grilled things, and spit roasts. YUM. (There are also a wide variety of medieval drinks on offer… of course).
