Today I made the season’s first visit to the Christmas market at Karlsplatz. The market here has a lot of art stuff and jewellery.
It also has some quirky stuff, like this home made, bicycle powered carousel. It’s really quite charming. 🙂
I was quite mesmerised by these lovely creatures of light that danced and moved around the market. They were so incredibly soothing.
I stalked them for quite a while. 😀
It’s pretty busy during the day at Schottentor Ubahn station. This is the stop for the largest university in Vienna. 🙂
So the season has started! I stumbled upon this market in Mariahilfer strasse yesterday, looking very festive in spite of the unseasonably warm weather. 🙂
People don’t seem to mind!
Well. This morning at least. I walked some of the way to uni in full rainwear, feeling like a champion 😀
My morning walk was, as always in this city, a fairytale. After all these years living here I just like it more than ever. 🙂
Today is the opening night for many Christmas markets in the city, I accidentally stumbled upon the one at Wien Mitte as I had an errand there. Hurrah! This is the nicest time of the year!! 😀
So we got a small Indian summer almost, even if the temperature is “only” around 18 degrees. I have loved these days very much. Being able to stroll home through the lovely streets of Vienna without being cold at all. Yummy. I took this picture of Belvedere a morning where there was next to no wind. 🙂
I’m not sure what’s going on in Mariahilfer strasse right now, but all the T-Shirts have the logo of WKO, the chamber of commerce on them. Maybe they had A LOT of laundry to do? 😀
I know it’s already technically winter, but it doesn’t feel like it… This weekend warm winds are sweeping through, and we are expecting 19 degrees and sun tomorrow. I don’t mind!!
It was a bit foggy this morning!
Yesterday I went to the opening of the winter village at Museumsquartier. I like it because it’s just a place to chill out, and no stalls or shop selling stuff, just drinks and food. And music.
There were a LOT of people there yesterday, and my selfie stick came in handy. Unfortunately my phone is not so great for night shots.
But the atmosphere was great, and even though there were too many people to even find a place to stand comfortably, it’s nice to see that the punsch season is finally here! 🙂
All over Vienna, the markets are getting ready for the opening of the season. With this weather it almost seems too early!
