This house on Favoritenstrasse was comissioned by the Zentralsparkasse (a bank) in the middle to late 1970s, for their use as a bank and also as a community centre. The house was designed by Günther Domenig, and he considered this as his final work of art. The house seems to be wedget too tightly between the buildings next to it, and many details were not planned but were put in on the spot, as they were building the house (Source: Wikipedia)
I like it, it’s a cool edition to the feel of Favoritenstrasse. You can find it between Keplerplatz and Reumannplatz on the U1.
Not actually a brewery, but they do order a specially made beer from Ottakring. We tried it yesterday for some pub food, and it was Awesome. Good wedges! That’s almost hard to come by in Vienna. I had a nice burger, my love had a Columbus pfandl..both were yummy. Can recommend!
It’s in the 10th district at Columbusplatz.
So, before it became really cold and yucky and slippery, we went for a walk around our new surroundings. I didn’t know that this pedestrian mall existed… it’s in the 10th district, just by the new Hauptbahnhof. And it’s fairly big… as far as pedestrian malls here in Vienna goes (they didn’t really exist until Mariahilfer was half-way converted. Although I think THIS place already existed then). Awesome. We are also close to the columbus mall, which has a decent Merkur. whoop whoop!
