Something strange met me yesterday on the way home from town. This stuff was plastered all over Schwedenplatz subway. Poems, excerpts, slogans etc.. all kinds of pieces of text was there. At first I thought it was something religious, but then I found out that actually it wasn’t.
It was put on by a Viennese poet/writer/philosopher called Helmut Seethaler, who is apparently known for this kind of events around the city. His vision was to make art public, something that also transcends into people’s everyday lives and spheres. So, he is putting up poems and musings on subway stations, light poles, and in other public spaces. And yesterday, he was putting them up here. Great!! 😀
Thanks to fellow Viennese blogger Jedib on http://louisland.wordpress.com/about/ for clearing that up! 🙂
