I guess they have to reshoot the scene? Anyway, they’re back! Anyone going celebrity stalking on Wednesday? 😀
Hostel Ruthensteiner is one of those places that I can now truly recommend to visitors. I was there interviewing someone earlier in the week, and was really impressed by the friendly atmosphere, the backyard and the light and pleasant colours at the hostel. They also have bike hire (although citybikes are cheaper), free wifi, etc… and at a really ok price! If I have people coming through this is where I’ll send them. I just thought it was funny as I was walking down the parallel street to Aussere Mariahilferstrasse looking for the place.. and it dawned on me that yeah, it’s fairly easy to see where the hostel is located! 😀
On a sidenote… it also is a bit disappointing how people are tagging crosses over the original swastika all over the place, misinterpreting it as the Nazi symbol (see the scribbling on the wall). Come on peepz… it’s gotta be rotated 45 degrees!! Otherwise it’s actually just a fairly innocent symbol from Sanskrit, which has no connotation to Nazis other than the fact that they rotated it and stole that as their symbol. I saw the original swastika all over the place when I visited vietnam and cambodia, on ancient buildings, graveyards etc. And I’m pretty sure they’re not Nazis. End rant.
There is so much to do before going away for five weeks that it’s just crazy. One of the things include opening my old cellphone up from the sim-lock. I got really shocked when I was told that Drei would charge 99 Euros to do that. Are you nuts??! So, I ended up at this here place, where the dude promised to do it for 30 Euro. I though well why the heck not. So, now I’m a bit more ready to go. 🙂
This little building with the cafe sign I found in a backyard in rural Vienna… Not sure if it actually belongs to an old cafe or not but in any case I suppose its glory days are long since over! 🙂 I still like the scene. Should have managed to get a clearer shot… hmmmm. Still not totally mastering the S4 it seems…!
I found out today that one of the cheapie supermarkets actually gives discounts to those less fortunate social groups (like me who is a student) on Wednesdays. How nice is that! I went in there today to get some Avocados, but unfortunately they only had really really awesome looking ones that were from too far away. (I’m a distance-conscious buyer). But this is great! So if you’re in a bit of a pinch, Zielpunkt will make your Eurocents stretch just a little bit further. 🙂 They have totally ok stuff in there. So don’t be deterred by the label ‘cheap.’
By now I’m already home in Norway to celebrate christmas with my mum. So, the posts will be older pictures from Vienna that I have taken this winter and last winter. I hope you can forgive that! This poster is at the subwaystop at Westbahnhof, and I’ve always liked it. It’s the subway map of Vienna (although a bit simplified), but with band names instead of the stations. I live between Bauchklang and Gustav. 😀
